It started out as a dream
We asked ourselves, “what if we took the giddy joy of a school book fair and added some wheels and queer magic?”
With the support of over 5,000 donors, we transformed this 22-foot school bus into a traveling bookmobile!
(We even documented the transformation.)
Queer artists India Torrez and Paco May gave the bus a gorgeous new rainbow paint job that includes portraits of trailblazers like Audre Lorde, Harvey Milk, Marsha P. Johnson and Silvia Rivera (just to name a few).
Trans architect Lucas Amador has transformed the inside of the bus into a technicolor library with books for all ages.
